La Gratitude Pre-Primary School has served Pinelands families since its current building opened back in 1963, growing out of a vision first set in motion by ladies of the Dutch Reformed Church in the late 1950s to build a quality Christian nursery school for the community. That founding spirit lives on today through the school’s membership of the Association of Christian Schools International.
Registered with the Western Cape Education Department as an Independent/Public Site, the school operates under a Circuit Manager and follows the National Curriculum Statement, CAPS, and guidelines from the Independent Schools Association of South Africa, of which it is also a member. Two classes make up the school: Bunnies (Grade R, ages 5 turning 6) and Squirrels (Pre-Grade R, ages 4 turning 5), each capped at 23 children though numbers are usually kept closer to 20-22, with a deliberate effort made to balance boys and girls in every class.
