Nursery School Reviews: Your Questions Answered
What parents ask about reading, trusting and writing nursery school reviews.
The best-reviewed schools shift as parents add reviews, so our Top-Rated section and city and suburb links above always reflect the latest ratings. Rather than one area being permanently best, look for suburbs where several schools each hold strong, recent reviews, that consistency across a neighbourhood is usually a better signal than a single high score. Use the city and suburb links to see the top-rated nursery schools, creches and ECD centres near you.
Genuine reviews tend to include specifics: they name a teacher or the principal, describe how a real issue was handled, or mention everyday things like settling-in, drop-off, meals and communication. Be cautious when every review sounds the same or uses near-identical wording, that can point to reviews being planted. On Find My Nursery every review is checked before it goes live, and reviews sit on the school's own profile so you can read them in full and in context.
A total absence of any critical feedback can actually be a small red flag, because almost every school has at least one parent who was not fully satisfied at some point. A healthy review profile usually has a strong majority of positive reviews with the occasional honest, constructive one. What matters more is how a school responds to concerns and whether the overall pattern, over time, is positive.
There is no fixed number, and a newer or smaller school may have very few simply because fewer families have reviewed it yet. A handful of detailed, recent reviews can tell you more than dozens of vague one-line ratings. Look at the quality and recency of what parents wrote, not just the count, and treat reviews as one part of your decision alongside a visit.
No. Reviews are a great starting point for building a shortlist and spotting patterns, but they do not replace seeing a school for yourself. Use reviews to decide which schools are worth visiting, then book a tour, watch how staff interact with the children, and ask your own questions. The best decision combines honest parent reviews with your own visit.
The most helpful reviews go beyond stars and mention practical things: how the settling-in period went, how staff communicate with parents, staff stability and turnover, safety and supervision, meals, and how the child behaves at drop-off and pick-up. Reviews that describe a specific experience, good or bad, give you far more to work with than a general comment like great school.
Search for your school using the search bar at the top of this page, open its profile, and scroll to the reviews section to leave your star rating and a short, honest review. Every review is checked before it is published. Sharing your genuine experience takes a minute and helps the next family in your area choose with confidence.
