Inside the Find My Nursery Business Centre: The Intelligence Layer Behind the Platform
What it is, why we built it, and what it means for the ECD sectorFind My Nursery started as a directory. What sits behind it today is something closer to an engine, a system built to understand how parents search for early childhood education in South Africa, what happens after they find a school, and where the real opportunities for growth actually are. That engine is called the Business Centre, and this guide explains exactly what it is, why it exists, and why it matters if you run more than one ECD centre.
What Is the Business Centre?
The Business Centre is the single system that runs Find My Nursery: analytics, schools, enquiries, content, advertising and subscriptions, all in one place, instead of scattered across separate tools and admin screens. It is not a dashboard every individual school receives. Every school already has its own lightweight School Dashboard for claiming a profile, updating details and responding to reviews, and that stays exactly as it is.The Business Centre sits above that. It is built first to run the platform itself, and it is the same environment that school networks and organisations get access to, scoped to their own schools only, so a group managing multiple centres can see their whole network the way we see the whole platform. Why We Built It
Before the Business Centre existed, running Find My Nursery meant working across several disconnected systems at once.Search Data
Sitting inside Google Search Console, disconnected from everything else.Site Behaviour
Tracked separately in Google Analytics, requiring a second login to check.Enquiries & Activity
Calls, forms, reviews and advertising, each inside its own custom plugin. An Intelligence Layer, Not Just a Dashboard
This is the part that changes what the Business Centre actually is. It does not just report on what happened after the fact, it lets us understand the ECD market itself: what parents are searching for, how that search behaviour changes by area and by season, and what that tells us about demand before it even reaches a school's profile.More importantly, it lets us see the full funnel, not just one stage of it.| Stage | What the Business Centre Shows |
|---|---|
| Search | What parents are typing, and where the demand is coming from |
| Discovery | Which schools are being found, and through which searches |
| Engagement | What a parent does once they land on a profile |
| Contact | Calls, emails, WhatsApp messages, direction requests |
| Conversion | Enquiries submitted and school tour bookings made |
What This Means for the ECD Sector
Most of what the Business Centre surfaces was never really visible to anyone in the ECD sector before, not at this scale. It is the closest thing South Africa's early childhood sector has to a live read on how parents actually search, discover and choose a school, and that matters well beyond Find My Nursery itself. For us, it is what lets us keep building the right things: content, tools and features shaped by real demand instead of guesswork. And it is the same infrastructure we are opening up so the rest of the sector can benefit from it too. School networks are the clearest example, an organisation running several centres can get the same funnel visibility we use to run the whole platform, search through to enrolment, scoped to their own schools, instead of piecing it together across a dozen separate logins. But the principle is bigger than any one use case: the more of the sector that plugs into this, the clearer the picture gets for everyone in it.- Understand which centres are converting visibility into real enquiries, and which need attention
- Spot demand in areas where a network could open or grow, backed by real search data instead of guesswork
- See a whole network rolled up into one view, instead of chasing numbers school by school
- Give ECD owners and practitioners, not just parents, a place built around the questions they are actually asking
A Quick Look Inside
To make this less abstract, here is a brief run-through of what is actually inside the Business Centre. This is not the full detail, just enough to see the shape of it.- Dashboard — a single-page summary of what's moving across the platform right now
- Analytics — a full set of tabs covering platform-wide performance, trends over time, how individual schools compare, demand by area, on-page engagement, on-site search terms, content performance, and Google Search Console data, all in one place
- Schools — every listing on the platform, its status, tier and profile completeness
- Networks — where organisations managing multiple centres get grouped together with their own rolled-up view
- Inbox — every enquiry, call, email and WhatsApp contact, in one place
- Reviews — parent reviews and moderation, tied back to each school's trust signals
- Ads — our own advertising engine, campaigns, placements and performance
- Subscriptions — school tiers and billing, sitting next to the performance data that justifies them
- Areas — the suburb, city and province structure everything else is built on
- Content — where our ECD Guides, Parent Blog and quizzes get managed and measured
- Partnerships, Careers, Announcements, Help Centre & Settings — the rest of the operational layer, from brand partnerships to roles and permissions
Want to See It in Action?
Whether you run a single centre or a network of them, we'd love to show you what this looks like from the inside, search demand, engagement, enquiries and conversions, in real time. Get in TouchQuick Answers to Common Questions
Is the Business Centre a dashboard for individual schools? No. Individual schools use their own School Dashboard to claim and manage a profile. The Business Centre is the platform-level system, and the environment school networks use to see their own schools together. What does "intelligence layer" actually mean here? It means the Business Centre does not just report what happened, it shows the full funnel from search through to enrolment, in real time, so decisions can be based on what is actually happening rather than a lagging report. Why would a school network want access to it? To see every centre in the network in one place, understand which are converting visibility into enquiries, and act on real demand data instead of managing each school in isolation.Does this replace the School Dashboard? No, they serve different purposes. The School Dashboard manages one profile. The Business Centre manages visibility and performance across a whole network.Owners Also Read
