Your Nursery Is Already Listed on Find My Nursery. Here's Why You Should Claim It.
FIND MY NURSERY · 27.08.2026

If you run a crèche, nursery school or preschool in South Africa, there's a good chance parents can already find you on Find My Nursery, South Africa's largest nursery and ECD directory. Your school's name, address and contact details are likely live right now, alongside whatever reviews parents have already left.
Here's the part most owners don't realise: your profile exists whether you've claimed it or not.
The question isn't whether you're listed. It's who's controlling what parents see when they find you.
What "unclaimed" actually means for your school
An unclaimed profile is still visible, still searchable, and still showing up in Google results. But nobody from your school is managing it. That has real consequences:
- Parents may see outdated or missing information, wrong hours, an old phone number, no photos.
- A parent comparing three nurseries in your area may contact one of the other two simply because their profile looks complete and yours doesn't.
- No photos and no description means less trust, and less trust means fewer enquiries reaching you at all.
- Meanwhile, claimed and complete profiles nearby are pulling ahead in search and in parents' minds.
None of this is hypothetical. Our own platform data shows 57.6% of parents look at a school's photos first when they land on a profile, and 16.5% immediately tap through for directions. If those fields are empty, that parent has already moved on to the next result.

Claim Your School FreeWhy this matters right now
Find My Nursery is growing fast, and so is the pool of schools taking control of their profiles. In the past month alone, the number of active schools on the platform grew by nearly 49%, and enquiries flowing to schools grew by 55% over the same period. Parents are searching. Over the past 16 months, Find My Nursery school pages have racked up roughly 80,000 to 90,000 Google search impressions, across 90+ suburbs. WhatsApp remains the number one way parents choose to make first contact, and roughly six in ten are browsing on their phone, so a profile that isn't optimised for a quick mobile glance is a profile that's losing enquiries it never even knew it had.
Real schools are already seeing this play out.
Humpty Dumpty Educare in Mitchells Plain saw their enrolments go up too, including a parent who moved from Pretoria to Cape Town and found them on Find My Nursery.
On your own, versus with a claimed profile
| Unclaimed | Claimed | |
|---|---|---|
| Found online | One post that fades | Ranked on Google, all year |
| Tracking | No visibility into performance | Live analytics on views, clicks and WhatsApp |
| Enquiries | Missed or delayed | Instant alerts to your inbox |
| Trust | Hard to gather reviews | A verified review system |
| Profile | Basic, incomplete | Complete, with photos and programme info |
What to do next
Claiming your school takes a few minutes and puts you back in control of the first impression parents get. It's also the first step before you can do anything else on the platform, from responding to reviews to seeing which searches are already sending parents your way.
If you've already claimed your profile, the next question is what to actually do with it. That's covered in our next guide: "You've Claimed Your Profile. Now What?"

FAQs
Is claiming my school really free?
Yes. Your Listed profile is free forever. Claiming it just puts you in control of what's on it, no card required to claim, and no card required for the 7-day Essential trial that follows.
What if I can't find my school on Find My Nursery?
Most South African crèches, nursery schools and preschools are already listed across our 90+ suburbs. Search by name or suburb first. If you genuinely can't find your school, email admin@findmynursery.net and we'll have your school uploaded in no time, with a claim link to follow straight after.
How long does verification take once I claim?
Verification is typically completed within 48 hours.
Do I need a registration number to claim my school?
It's not required to claim, but adding your official registration number where you have one adds an extra layer of trust to your profile for parents comparing schools.
What actually happens if I never claim my profile?
It stays live and searchable, but unmanaged. Parents may see outdated details, no photos, and no way to reach you on WhatsApp, while nearby claimed and complete profiles keep pulling ahead in search and in parents' decisions.
I've claimed and listed my school. Am I guaranteed results?
No, and we won't tell you otherwise. What we can tell you is what claiming and completing your profile actually does: it puts your school in front of Google, structured properly, so it can be found, understood and ranked. That's SEO (search engine optimisation), in plain terms, making sure your school shows up when a parent searches for exactly what you offer. It has a cumulative effect. The more complete your profile, photos, reviews, fees, programme details, the stronger it performs over time. It compounds, it doesn't guarantee.
How long until I actually see results?
It depends on where your school is starting from. If your school is brand new to Find My Nursery, with no search history at all, it typically takes about two weeks to a month before Google starts generating real impressions for your page. If your school already existed on the platform and has some ranking history, you'll generally see a more noticeable shift in impressions, clicks and enquiries somewhere in the 1 to 3 month range. That's not a guarantee either, some schools genuinely see real enquiries and enrolments within weeks of claiming and updating their info. A lot of it comes down to demand and search activity in your specific area at that time.
Are there peak times when parents are searching for schools?
Ideally, yes, there'd be predictable peaks around enrolment season. In reality, parents search for nurseries and preschools every single day of the year, not just in a season. That's part of why keeping your profile current matters year round, not just before a term starts.
Is Find My Nursery actually growing, or is this a small directory?
We're growing steadily and tracking real month-on-month growth in visitors, schools listed and enquiries sent to schools. We're also continually improving the platform itself, structured data, page speed, technical SEO, all the things that quietly benefit every claimed school's visibility without you having to do anything extra.
Are there other ways to boost my school's visibility, beyond claiming?
Yes, and more are coming. We're currently beta testing a Boost feature, similar in concept to boosting a post on Facebook, for putting a school profile in front of more parents for a limited period. Full on-platform advertising is also in development. Both are still in testing, so details and availability will follow separately once they're ready.
Is Find My Nursery just a directory?
On the front end, yes, it's built to look and feel like a simple, easy-to-use directory, on purpose, because that's what parents want. Behind that simplicity, there's a lot more going on: thousands of moving technical parts, analytics, search data and structured information working together to make sure schools actually get found. Think of Find My Nursery less like a listings page and more like a marketing partner. Once you've claimed your profile, you manage what parents see. We handle the technical work behind it that helps grow your visibility, so you can focus on running your school.
